Tire Storage

Proper tire storage is a must. Proper storage ensures that your tires appearance and performance are maintained, before you store your tires; make sure to remove all moisture and inspect each one for damage and uneven wear.

  • The best way to store tires is standing upright – it puts less stress on the tires. If you have to stack your tires, try not to stack them too high. If your tire tower gets too tall, it could topple over and damage the tires
  • Store your tires in a clean, cool and dark location away from heat or gas and preferably under a tire cover or in a tire bag.
  • Ensure that tires are not stored under tension or external pressure in order to avoid cracks.
  • Store your tires indoor in a clean, cool and dark location away from direct sunlight, sources of heat and ozone such as hot pipes or electric generators.

DO NOT APPLY ANY TIRE DRESSINGS. Tire compounds are formulated to resist ozone cracking or weather checking.

  • Keep the tires away from grease, gasoline, or other solvents that could cause the rubber of the tire to deteriorate.
  • Be sure the surfaces on which tires are stored are clean and free from grease, gasoline or other substances that could deteriorate the rubber.
  • If storing outdoors raise tires off the ground and use water proof covering with holes to prevent moisture build-up.
While tires will age somewhat regardless of what precautions are taken, these procedures will help slow the process compared to taking no precautions at all

We wish both you and your tires many long years of good health. But if you happen to need a new set, you’re in the right place.
